The subject of rock guitar lessons can mean a lot of things and cover lessons based more in blues right through to metal guitar. In its heart however it sits firmly in between those two styles of guitar playing and takes influence from both of them. This is why there's quite a lot of space to find yourself in rock guitar and develop your own style of expression.
In case you didn't realize, that's what it's really all about. Technical exercises, scales, theory and playing fast or sweep picking are all fine but they mean nothing without some kind of heart felt musical expression put behind them. Simply playing fast becomes very boring to audiences very quickly.
Some players find playing fast and in a technical way relatively easy while others kill themselves trying to do the same thing. Beware of this as some players are naturally inclined to play with more soul and feeling than pure speed, try to find what kind of player you are naturally and avoid forcing yourself into things which don't really fit you. You'll end up having a much more satisfying and fun time learning to play rock guitar that way.
It's possible to find rock guitar tuition both online and from local teachers in your area. If you are able to find a good teacher locally then this is probably your best option and will improve you the fastest. Ideally if you can combine learning electric guitar both online and from classes you'll be able to enjoy the best of both worlds.
